Fig. 1 – The cage in Act I is lit while the main stage below remains in darkness. At the conclusion of
Act I, the lights are extinguished and the four characters silently descend to stage level, appearing
at stage left when the lights come up on Act II.

bags of groceries and assorted supplies. The remaining characters drift over during the scene.
